This is a Victorian beadwork hand fan dating from approximately 1850-1890. The circular fan features exquisite micro-beadwork depicting white lilies with green foliage against a coral/ pink canvas background, demonstrating the remarkable craftsmanship typical of Victorian decorative arts. The handle is shorter than would be expected for this type of fan. The carved handle shows decorative ringed details and a scalloped end but is truncated leaving a section of the original handle. The reverse side of the fan reveals the underlying construction with the outline of the floral design visible. The fan is edged with black trim and features fabric binding around the circular perimeter, the beadwork portion remains a beautiful example of Victorian needlework.
