Regency Style Poke Bonnet

£47.50

Regency-style poke bonnet features a natural straw construction adorned with a deep blue ribbon (lightly wired) and artificial flowers. It can of course be re-trimmed by the purchaser. The poke bonnet became a defining accessory of the Regency and Victorian eras, characterized by a design that combined features of a cap and a hat. It was first mentioned in a London fashion report in 1807. Over time, the brim grew so prominent that by the 1830s, the wearer's face could often only be seen from directly in front.
